50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
MURREE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
2006 – Murree Christian School’s Jubilee Year!
January, 2005
The year 2006 will mark 50 years of God’s faithfulness to Murree Christian School, and we think that is an excellent reason for world-wide celebration! Consequently, there are at least four MCS reunions which we hope can be planned in various parts of the world - Europe and UK, looks like Germany, Canada and US in Toronto in connection with the World MK reunion in June 2006, if someone can head this up. We also would love to see one in Australia/ New Zealand, maybe you CMS folk could get together on this? Then, yes, you guessed it—Murree, Pakistan.
The Pakistan branch of our 50th Anniversary planning team met recently, and is happy to announce the following initial plans:
WHEN: June 7 – 14, 2006 – Core Reunion, Celebration and Planned Events
June 9 – MCS Graduation, Class of 2006
June 15 – 21 – Informal reunion and activities
WHERE: Programmes held at Sandes Home, MCS Gharial Campus and surrounding areas.
Accommodation provided at Sandes Home (and possibly MCS hostel during second week). Hotel accommodation available in surrounding area (Murree is now filling up with hotels!) and in Islamabad.
WHO: All MCS Alumni (staff and students) and their families, Pakistan missionaries (past and present) who have had connections with the school, and friends of MCS from around the world. There will be a few opportunities during the two weeks to link with current MCS students, and present staff members and their families will be involved in various aspects of the celebrations.
WHAT: Initial plans include a walk through the history of MCS, personal stories of alumni, an auction of MCS paraphernalia, seminars led by various alumni, school and community service projects, walks to Jhika and tikkas at the Cockroach, lots of informal fellowship time and much, much more.
WHY: To celebrate together the goodness of God over 50 years of MCS history.
YOU are cordially invited to come join us for this memorable celebration!
What To Do Next:
· Mark your calendars now for the above dates and start saving your pennies for the air fare!
· Pass this invitation on to any alumni you know who may not be on the current JJ list.
· Stay posted for further information on plans. By June, 2005, we will be looking for initial registrations.
· Questions? Email us at mcs50years@yahoo.com
· We want to develop a file of interested people, so let Deb or Eunice know this at the mcs50years address if you are interested in updates, being part of planning a reunion in one of the above locations, or have ideas.
· Patience Eunice and Deb are just leaving Pakistan after 40 and 30 years respectively. It will take time for us to get back to you. We won’t be able to answer all individually and probably none for a couple of months. Anita Hayes the MCS Secretary will also be checking the mcs50 years email address and can reply as needed.
On Behalf of the MCS 50th Planning Team* (Pakistan Branch),
Deb and Eunice

Christian relief world mourns death of Richard Penner, 56
Our hearts and minds are with Danniel Penner (MCS) and his family.
"Richard Penner, was killed in a plane crash in Uzbekistan January 13th. His mom, Ann, was at their home in Mazar, Afghanistan at the time. He worked for World Concern, a Christian humanitarian aid organization, and was traveling back and forth from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan for business meetings.
Mom has flown to Tashkent, UZ where she is surrounded by many friends. Daniel, his sisters Betty-Anne, and Becky and all of us spouses will be flying out on Friday to be with her and for the funeral which is scheduled for Monday. It was Dad's wish to be buried there, and there will be a memorial service in Winnipeg when we return. After the funeral, we will all be going with Mom to Mazar to pack up her house and bring her home. We understand that someone has already started that process." -Lorilee and Daniel
